Why More People Are Exploring Holistic Wellness

Why More People Are Exploring Holistic Wellness

“I had to know why people got sick.”

That question stayed with me after losing several people close to me to cancer and disease, including my mum’s husband Steve, whose diagnosis and death happened within three weeks.

Watching somebody you love disappear that quickly changes you. It forces questions to the surface. Why are so many people unwell? Why do treatments sometimes seem to create even more suffering? And why were natural approaches to wellness rarely discussed?

That curiosity led me toward researching cannabis, CBD, and the body’s endocannabinoid system, often called the ECS.

Most people have never heard of it.

The ECS is a communication system within the body linked to balance, mood, sleep, appetite, stress response, and immune function. Researchers have spent decades studying how cannabinoids interact with this system, which partly explains why interest in CBD has grown so rapidly worldwide.

What also surprised me was cannabis’s long history. Long before modern stigma and legislation, hemp and cannabis were used across multiple cultures for practical, medicinal, and therapeutic purposes.

As my research deepened, I spoke with people using cannabinoid products as part of wider wellness routines. Some described improvements in sleep, stress, inflammation, comfort, and overall quality of life.

What became clear to me is that wellness is rarely about one miracle product.

Sleep matters.
Food matters.
Stress matters.
Lifestyle matters.

The people who seemed to experience the biggest shifts were often those willing to make broader changes alongside whatever support they chose, whether that meant improving nutrition, reducing stress, resting properly, or reconnecting with healthier routines.

Public attitudes around CBD and cannabinoids have changed dramatically over the last decade. What was once dismissed entirely is now being researched globally and explored by millions of people interested in holistic wellness.

For me, this journey started with grief, but became a search for understanding.

And ultimately, one simple question:

What if there’s more to health than we’ve been taught to look at?
